Respect for the Internet Marketer

Posted by: admin In: E-Commerce| Entrepreneurship| Sites I Like

Internet marketing is a funny business. People ask what we do, and sometimes it’s hard to explain. People don’t get it.

For example…

We create information products and sell them online.

We help people market their offline businesses online.

We help people better there Search Engine Rankings.

We help people advertise on Google Adwords.

We build membership sites.

We help local businesses develop an online presence.

This is an extremely small example of things Online Marketers do.

We utilize and work with some of the newest and greatest tools and services hitting the web! We embrace them like no other, we learn the in’s and outs and we use them to disseminate quality marketing information, lke twitter for example.

Well known marketer John Reese has been “attacked” for his use of Twitter, being called a prolific e-book salesman, although the blog posts pretty much whittled him down to nothing more than a Nigerian Spammer.

Now many of my members know, I’m more than outspoken on a few Internet Marketing “gurus” who really don’t deserve that title. But over the past few months I’ve really learned to respect John.
You can see and read about what’s causing the uproar in the Internet Marketing community.

AND Here (the latest mashable attack)

Why? Because I’ve learned from him. I’ve learned things through him and his twitter posts that have helped me become a better Internet Marketer. I’ve changed my views and philosophies online becuase of John Reese and with that said I’ve learned to respect him very much.

Now, that doesn’t mean I still won’t say things like I see them. One, John’s BlogRush.com to me wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. In fact, I wrote about it in a post called the Blog Rush Disaster. But what I respect about John is he tried! He launched a massive Web 2.0 blog application and while the end result for promised benefits may have been shortcoming, the blogrush widget can be found on millions and millions of blogs. I can’t call this a total failure…

Back to the topic.

Here’s the kicker. John is about to release Traffic Secrets 2.0. John is best known for being one of the first Internet Marketer’s to make 1 Million Dollars in an 18 hour time frame with Traffic Secrets 1.0 back in 2004.

Does mashable realize they have just launched a great INternet Marketer into hyperdrive only weeks before his launch.

John’s rebuttal shows his class and coolness in light of such ridiculous remarks. I’ll be honest I started using Twitter because John told me to. During that time because of John’s twittering, I’ve learned about great books (which I’ve purchased from amazon) found amazing blog posts, been pointed to cool resources (always free) literally watched alongside while John developed and worked on Traffic Secrets 2.0… I haven’t seen John try to sell anything on Twitter.

No to mention, the comments from hoards of marketers and disciples responding to the outlandish blog posts by Mashable and the Inquistor are proving what disastrous choices they have made with such silly attacks.

Great copywriters like Michael Fortin publicly stating that Mashable has lost both a fan and a reader.. But it goes on.. The troops are rallying.
Normally, I’d never write a post as such. Heck, look how often I post. But this I felt deserved the post.
