I have no doubt the principles of the 4HWW can be applied to any career. Many get caught up with the thought of only working 4 hours. It's not “really” about that. It's about doing what you need to to do enjoy the amount of time you have here on earth.

I have this goal to write a book this year. I'm going to take all my favorite books and toss them in a blender and give the output.

For example, Gary Vaynerchuk in Crush It tells us to work our faces off. Tim says NO.. Do what you need and no more.

If I look back at the past 5 years I've been living a mix mash of the two. I want to show others how to do it.

I understand your feelings of regret and understand how easily we can fell into the cycle in which society tends to make us believe we need to be in.

That being said, and even though your nickname is “oldnick,” don't believe for a second you can't still implement the ideals of the 4HWW. You most certainly can.

I should clarify that the “OR” term is one I gave them. Tim actually reliefs to them as Deferrers (D) (those who save it all for the end only to find that life has passed them by.)

I should perhaps update my post and clarify that.

sounds as if you are going to have a fun year.

The OR v NR debate reminds me of an evening a few years ago in the pub where we were discussing working hours. Almost without exception the men were of the opinion that you worked every hour you could to provide your family with the highest standard of living possible.

All the women however said that they married to be with their partner, not just to be supported by them. They all said that they would rather have a lower standard of living and a partner who worked a maximum of 40 hours than a high flyer that they never saw.

The reaction of the men to that was total disbelief and that you cannot be successful in the corporate world unless you work all hours, and that all women judge a man by his bank balance!

The 4HWW sounds like a real solution to that dilemma. Having been a workaholic for much of my life, I regret truly the things I missed, and wish that I had come across something like The 4HWW years ago.

After reading your synopsis, I intend to get a copy.
