5 Top Secret Tricks being used to create Online Sales

Posted by: admin In: E-Commerce| Entrepreneurship| Misc

Now something I’ve learned about Internet Marketing over the years is that you’re going to be presented with loads of hype and false promises! The goal of Internet Marketing is to create an action. That action is to get you to buy.

So how do the top Internet Marketers do this? That’s part of today’s focus. There are simple, effective, legitimate techniques being used everyday day to create massive sales. Now, I’m not condoning the use of these techniques since I believe some of them are unethical, I’m only discussing them to increase your awareness of how online marketers use these tricks to increase their sales. Should you apply them to your own online business, please use your head and conduct your business honestly and ethically.

5 Top Secret Tricks being used to create Online Sales

1) Click here to see if you qualify!

Now obviously whomever “clicks here” does qualify but this simple trick is used by millions of online marketers to make you think that you actually have to quality before you can purchase their product. Many marketers use this technique to achieve two goals. Those goals are to create sales and build an email list. For example, on your sales page you could use an email subscription form with some survey questions to check for qualification. Point out to the user that the system will automatically check for qualification.

Something really effective could be a simple question like:

Please enter your email address below and answer the following survey question to see if you qualify.

Now, use a question like “how much money do you want to make online”

Here is how you could utilize this technique effectively. Include 4 possible answers and for 3 of the 4 answers have it default to a page which says “Sorry, you don’t qualify for our product, click here to try again” Most users will “click and try again.” I’d bet they’d click until they make the right selection. When they finally pick the right one and “qualify” for your product you’ve got a decent chance of landing the sale.

Have you seen Online Marketers use this trick before? I have. What they’re doing is creating an elite sense of status. The marketer is saying, I’m sorry but if you don’t quality your money is no good here. When you do qualify, your brain believes you have just stumbled upon an opportunity that you can’t miss. You’ve qualified and you’re the perfect candidate! `

2) Top Secret! Don’t share this link!

This is a little trick that can be easily utilized to create sales on a daily basis for your digital product. People want to know secrets. Our brains are programmed in a way that we love to know a secret! Especially before everyone else does. Here is an example of how you could use this trick. Click “Here” to see an example.

Send your customers to what looks like a members only section of a website. They will think that you’ve sent them a link that shouldn’t be given away. You think you’ve just secretly accessed the member’s area. When really what you’ve done is join a free website. The site is actually free and there is no obligation to buy anything but the marketer hopes you’ll buy something or upgrade to a paid membership.

Usually after signing up for the “free members area” you’ll also be hit with a one-time offer. The marketer knows that the end-user feels like, “well if I just got the membership for free, I suppose I can spend money on this.”

3) Create Hype

This is a super dirty trick. The top online marketers are pros at creating hype. Mike Filsaime who recently created “Butterfly Marketing” is one of the masters of hype. He uses a mixture of all the tricks I’m talking about today. Does it work? His last online digital product “Butterfly Marketing” sold 1500 copies for $997 in a matter of days. Can you do the math? If you didn’t do the math, I did. That is $1,495,500 in a matter of days. Sure, maybe he was a little unethical by creating loads of hype but perhaps it was a small price to pay for $1,495,500…

Now, Mike is truly a master of hype. He’ll say numerous times that you wont find any hype in what he’s offering. I beg to differ…I don’t want to create more sales for his products but I suggest you read his “Butterfly Marketing” sales page to educate yourself on how the tricks are used.

There are certain words used to create hype and by adding them to your headlines, sales copy and email marketing, you’re bound to get more sales.

Incredible, Amazing, Unbeatable, Unbelievable, Controversial, Secret, Hidden, Easy, Fast

Creating hype works because you’re psychological evoking an emotion with the end-user. Use these techniques wisely and ethically. You’ll go farther as an online marketer and entrepreneur then you will if you resort to simply creating hype all the time. Don’t create hype to the point where you’re lying and going to get sued! That’s just ignorance. Yet many marketers do it. Become knowledgeable not stupid.

4) Wait. . .There’s More!

This is one of those tricks that was taken directly from those brutal TV infomercials and brought online. Sure we laugh when we watch it on TV. After all, infomercials are funny. But when the exact same techniques are used online they deliver sales. You all know how it works. If you buy the pasta spoon/spatula we’ll throw in a second one free…plus we’ll throw in the special pot/strainer…. plus we’ll throw in the free pasta roller…. plus we’re going to throw in the hard-boiled egg boiler…but wait, there’s more! We’re also going to throw in the special sandwich sized Tupperware!

You all know what I’m talking about and how funny it is when we see it on TV. The way the trick works so effectively is that by offering a ton of “free bonuses” for no extra cost other than the original investment, the buyer will begin to believe these products are actually free and valuable bonuses. The marketer will go to great lenghts to first sell you on the special pasta spoon/spatula and how it will make your life easier. Once you find out its only $29.95 you start to consider picking up the phone. At this point the marketer knows you’re almost hooked. They just need to “set the hook.” This is done by using the “wait…there’s more!” trick.

Internet Marketers use this trick religiously. Remember last time you purchased something from an Internet Marketer. Think of all the extras and bonuses they gave you. They used the “wait…there’s more!” trick on you.

This is one of the oldest and most effective tricks in the book. This one single technique will boost your sales higher and faster then any other technique.

5) Wait! Before you make you’re decision let’s go through it one more time.

This trick ties into #4 and is similar to what’s done on TV infomercials. At the end of the infomercial or web sales page, the marketers use a bulleted list to add up the original product and it’s value, the bonuses and their value, and a grand total of all the inflated values combined!

I’ve attached an example below. Amazing right? You’re getting $11.267 Dollar value for only $1497! What a deal! Right?

Inflated Values

Not really. We all know the real world value is nowhere near what’s being shown. Or do we? The marketer knows that this is the final trick in setting the hook.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post. While it specifically focused on Internet Sales and Online Marketing I thought it was important to show you some of the tricks begin using to create sales. Not so you’ll go out and start exploting these techniques yourself but rather to increase your awareness of how these tricks are being used online each day to make money. Again, become knowledgeable not stupid. Obviously some of these techniques will seem unethical whereas there may be ways to you to use them ethically and increase your own online sales.

EDIT (Added after posting)
As I suspected, I’m receiving many different types of comments about this post. One user suggested these tricks are used to “fool dummies and naive surfers.” While that may be true, these tricks are being used by the top known marketers daily on hundreds if/not millions of fools and dummies and naive surfers. The point of today’s post was to shed some light on these tricks so you yourself are not fooled. As many are, on a daily basis. Hope this helps.

In response to your edit, Noah, I do not agree that these tactics are just used on naive surfers & “dummies.” It is up to each of us to be informed and educated. Just because I know nothing about quantum physics does not mean I am stupid.

These tactics obviously make people a lot of money. From my POV, it is what it is all about…

Peace,

Charlie~

Ha. Pretty much what I’ve been saying on my own little blog to the world. I started noticing how these tactics affected my ability to make money online. I spent far too much time trying ot disect all these call to riches and not enough time simply using the tools I already had and simply building another website.

#3 technique…I fall for that always in the past but I learned my lesson. Sometimes gurus just over hype things and just get me over excited. Leaving me disappointed after seeing their product is nothing but junk
